I bought this several years ago and have had issues with poor feeding. What can I look for. It appears the cartridge jams when being lifted.

Is there a good smith that will work on 39's??

Thanks

The first thing I'd do is make sure it's cleaned, lubricated, and all the action screws are tight

This might help. "Fixing the Dreaded Marlin Jam"

I've got one that does the same with LR, but it feeds shorts and longs just fine so I haven't fixed it yet.

There is a "finger" that helps guide the cartridge into the chamber. On the 39A I bought it was missing and the gun would jam. I got a replacement from Brownells and all has been well.

Could be something is gunked up in the lifter and you just need to give the action a thorough cleaning and a light application of oil.

It is either the cartridge guide spring or the cartridge cutoff, cant tell from your description, change them out and you will be happy, only a few bucks and 5 minutes work, a cave man can do it. grin

if you take it apart you can lock that little springy finger thing on the side with the turn screw. Make sure its not locked down.
