Last weekend I was at Cabelas looking for 17HMR. Had to walk thru the gun library ( of course ) and saw an 1895 #5302 in the gun case. Called the store clerk over so I could get a closer look at it. After getting pass the initial sticker shock, I noticed the barrel had no marking on it at all. I'll be interested to hear anything you guys have to say about 1895's.

If you do the - VIEW LARGER - 5th pic, shows no addr markings. I asked the salesman if the barrel had been switched years ago but he had no comment.

"This round barreled 1895 has the Marlin proof mark on the underside of the barrel."
Marked on the bottom but not on top?

Maybe buffed off and reblued sometime in the last 120 years?
Or the Marlin mark not really there?

IMO better 1895 on GB right now. Also ... OT - do all Calelas have that food truck outside the main door. The one selling apple cider donuts. Really great donuts !!!
