He is from Canada...despite some really f***ed-up gun laws, buying a long-rifle is dead simple. His friend would buy it with his gun license and give it to sns2 after checking that sns2 had a gun license. No transfer, no police, no background checks.

In a 270 go with the 84L. I have have a couple 8400's and they were too big for the cartridge. Never had any feeding issues.

I may be in the minority, but if think the 8400 is perfect for the 30-06 from a weight standpoint.

I have both a 270 in 84L and a 30-06 in 8400. Again no feeding issues.

What kind if accuracy are you getting with your 270?

I just ran some of my standard 270 loads through it. Two were 1-1.25 Inches, one was 2 inches plus. I used the one load With 130gr TTSX to fill four tags last fall.

I just have not gotten around to working up a rifle specific load yet. Maybe this summer?

Well, sns2, your'e good to go. You should find a shop with a 84L and make a comparison of the two. I've had both and the level of accuracy of either model is limited to that particular rifle. The 30-06 with 180's in a 84L is a little spicy.
In a .270Win., its just fine.
Good luck up there.
