Good day.

I while started a thread on suppressors and went ahead had one made for my rifle. I am getting a reflex type suppressor and should have the rifle back before the weekend.

The question I would like to ask is, what are the chances that the rifle will still like the same load as before the suppressor was fitted? I still have around 50 rounds left that the rifle really shot well. Did you guys find that you had work up new loads after a rifle was fitted with a suppressor?

thanks

Pieter

My rifles that are suppressed didn't need any new load development when I installed suppressors.
Pint of impact will change, for my 6.5X47 Lapua, it went .6 MIL's low with the can.

JtP, did you get an improvement in accuracy? I have heard from several guys that they got better accuracy after they fitted suppressors.

Thanks

Its a fairly common report to hear of slightly better accuracy.

I only have one so far thats come in, waiting on the 30 cal one to show up before I make a drive to pick them up.

Will know after that.

I would not expect the increase in accuracy to amount to a lot though.

The cans I shoot have never degraded precision and I had one rifle that shot markedly better when suppressed (Knight M110). All of them have shown a POI shift (most consistent have been AAC TiTAN on XM2010 with average of 1 mil straight down).

The load should be fine, probably even more accurate as the barrel harmonics will be dampened. Point of impact will most likely change though for the same reason.

I have several host rifles for my can. 2 rifles show no change in POI, one does. No need to change loads for me as I don't shoot unsuppressed anymore.

Mine did have a change in impact but then again when you put 10-16 oz on the end of a 26" barrel it's reasonable to expect a POA change.

Once adjusted I just always leave the suppressor on and always shot it that way.

I just put one on my AR and neither POI or accuracy changed.

I have an excess of 100 cans in my safes, plus my bodyguards have some on them all the time too.

For the most part, accuracy stayed the same. On some but not all of my sporter weight barrels, accuracy was noticeably degraded with the cans.
