We (Cookie and I), did an east coast trip to visit relatives for a couple weeks. One rare blessing was the Thunder Over Louisville event with an afternoon airshow and evening fireworks we simply lucked into. Given the event was hosted over the river and essentially downtown, the fly boys could not really put things down on the ground like they can at an airport, but it was still a great show.
The Blue Angels are always excellent even though they had to stay about 600 to 800 ft up. Just one of the formation passes. I'd dearly love to go for a ride with them, but I would soooo throw up. Still I'd get back in and go around again.
Another pass flying slow and dirty with the gear and hooks down. These boys do tuck things in pretty tight.
Another flying team and sadly their name escapes me. Someone with knowledge please fill it in. They also put on a good show with a core group in formation and pairs and singles coming in to fill the voids. A lot of craft in a confined air space at one time.
All were taken with I believe a Canon 28-135 zoom with Cookie's Canon 50D.
The only downside of the trip was a reminder of what serious traffic can be. It took near two hours to escape core town when the show was over. Here I get ticked if I have to wait 10 seconds to enter a main artery at 07:45 in the morning.
