Anyone know who the USA dealer is now . I bought a pair from Lathrop and sons but they are no longer a dealer and I need repair work . An internet search found that they wont accept from the general public and that I need to send them back through a dealer. Their website sux the is no way to locate a dealer on their site or do much of anything else for that matter.

You might try Hoffman's Boots of Kellogg, Idaho - I see now they are selling Lowa boots, not Meindles, but they used to sell Miendles - they were allowed to sell them as long they were 'corking' them, as Cabelas was an exclusive dealer. They may be able to do the work you need. They are very good.

For repairs Cabela's recommends:

Goldstar Shoe Rebuilders in Vancouver,British Columbia, Canada, Eh!

1-800-565-7477

Their Facebook page when googled shows 1-604-734-7477

I pulled my pair out of the closet, they are too hot for most of my Georgia Hunting so have only been used 4-5 times in last 10-15 years and the cushion in the soles is dry rotted.

I will let y'all know what transpires.

I have used David Page here in Seattle. I had a pair of Danners that the knobs had torn off the bottom of the tread. I talked to Danner and they said they are glue on soles and not intended to be repaired - sorry. I took them to Dave and he said hold on a sec… went up to his stock room, came back with a pair of Vibram soles, matched them upo and said, "Give me a few days." I picked them up a week later and paid something like 35$. They are STILL holding tight (although the goretex has gone). This was 2004. David does great work and is highly regarded by climbers etc.

Another Meindl fail? I take it these were not from Cabelas.

I'll never buy Meindl boots again. I purchased two pair, both of which had the exact same problem. The soles crumbled and fell apart with little to no use. The boots were not in sunlight, not in heat, and I consider the flaw to be Meindls. Cabelas where I bought them basically told me tough luck...you need to contact Meindl directly, which as pointed out is near impossible. I ended up tossing both pair in the garbage, and they were like new. I have one pair left, and now cross my fingers each time I put them on that the soles will not crumble to bread crumbs. Take heed anyone considering buying these boots. I never will again.

My bad. The OP already said his boots were from Lathrop. I lapsed into my simmering Cabelas/Meindl rant ... smile

No more Meindls for me and probably no more Cabela's boots either.
