Never thought to wish for this...but it found it's way to my door. One is in 250 the other in 300....Identical serial numbers. Both F's.

Both had 23" factory bbls.
You can see what Roe believed was Enoch Tue's initials (ET) in the first picture...on the slanted flat to the right of the loading gate.

You think the gov't would pick up on that? LOL!
I bought these before nics kicked in.
Those mindless bots would never catch it.

Hell! It was in my house for a few days before I entered it in my book...and got very confused when I went to enter the 2nd serial number in....and then discovered the mystery.

Decent 32-40 I found @ the Syracuse show one year...walked into the show, met Lynn Dreyfus there....asked him if there was anything there I needed to see....he directed to this rifle. I went straight to the table and bought it from one of our deceased members here. (Wes Hurd RIP)

You are not going to expose those to Flordia humidity are you? I have a dry place here in Missouri that you can store them. grin GW

This does make for an interesting question - what is the highest grade M1899F we are aware of?

Not an F, but will this do? Here

That cat reminds me of my Hairy, aka Fatso. Would live in the gunsafe if I let him. I won't. If I had an 8" naval rifle, I could use him for a bore mop.

An 1895 in mint condition, with an octagon barrel, in 303. It would look like Loggah's rifle in the photo.

I spoke of this before but,I found myself an 1899 in 25 35 a few years ago. It had some funny little screws close together on the receiver, and a 24' barrel. When I got my letter back I found this gun started life as a 1899f in 32 40 made in 1903. The letter states it would have had a barrel band which was omitted after 1905. If I had not waited 95 years to buy this gun I would be braggin' not wonderin'! All numbers match so I assume someone sent it to Savage to be rebarreled, who knows now.
