Herrett Ropers, Jordan Troopers, or some Jerry Miculeks?

Want to try all three but need to pick one.

Preferences? The vast majority of loads that will be shot out of this revolver will be in the 950-1000fps range.

I got the Trooper stocks from Herrett with the covered backstrap for my first model Colt Trooper...., and if ordering another set, would go with the Ropers or Trooper with open backstrap. Even with the tracing of my hand, the Troopers make the trigger reach just a tad long for me. But they sure look nice and feel good.

Go over to the Smith and Wesson forum and buy a pair of stocks from john Culina, who posts under the name Kurac. They're great stocks without the ridiculous wait time of Herrett's.

Herrett Ropers for me. I like the coke bottle shape and the open backstrap, and Herrett does excellent work. Pay the upcharge for the finer walnut, it's worth it; otherwise you will get grips with only a little figure.

Yes, they work very well for DA shooting which is about all I do with the Mountain Guns they are mounted on.

In looking over on ebay several sellers have the Hogue wood grips without finger grooves...

What model S&W are you mounting them on...round or square butt...

Flame me but...Rubber Hogues is what I would go with. Nothing handles recoil better for me. If I had a pair of the three mentioned, I would sell them for too many dollars and buy the Hogues for $20 . Ropers and similar grips make me bleed.

That makes me want the Jerry grips...

It's a square.

I'll happily consider your opinion before I discard it.

God bless,

You really need to see what feels best to you. I've had Troopers...on a Trooper actually. I think they're too big, but maybe not for you. I like Ropers, but again, they may not fit you.

The Miculek grips are slimmer around and being an open backstrap makes reaching the trigger easier...Bob

While I have nice fancy customs from Keith Brown and kurac (actually just ordered another set from him a couple of weeks ago), these Herrett's from CDNN for $40 or so fit my hand to a tee. I have them on a half dozen of my N-Frames given the value of the originals.

Travis, I agree that the Hogue soft grips are worth a look. When one's hands get wet and cold (that NEVER happens when we are out in the boonies) they don't slip and don't seem to draw the heat from my hand as quickly as my wood stocks do. I have 2 sets of S&W Rosewood combat gripe for my 2 N frames. Gorgeous and they fit nicely but lose out in the wet, cold times that seem to get the most use of my sixguns.
