Loaded up 5 rounds of 65.0 grs of Rldr22 under 160 accubonds, set at 0,020 off the rifling over night.
Today the wind is gittin it, but just couldn't stand not trying out my new rebarrel.
Set up a box at 103 paces, put up a plastic folding table and chair, shot off a bipod and rear bag.
Not the steadiest of set ups, but I just had to try it out.
Put a single round at a time in the mag and they fed just fine.
Wind knocked over my plastic box and a tip broke off of one when the rounds hit the ground.
Upper left hole was the first shot out of a squeeky clean barrel, ragged hole is the next 3, and the odd lower hole was the broke off tip.
I think Im on to something!
Very happy with my work....

Yessir splatter. You're gonna really like that one I think! Just curious...how much room do you have in mag box? How far off the lands are you with that load?

The action has a wyatts mag box, so I could go to 3.7something.
At 3.296, Im 0.020 off.

Sure Bob,
A light trigger, leaning into the table, off hand controlling the rear bag, and waiting for a lull in the wind, helps.
Loaded 10 more at same oal, but went up 1 grain in powder, as the fired ones were well rounded still.
First shot tomorrow, will let me know if I went too much.
Gotta set up my chrono, but it's supposed to be real windy for another 2 days.

Made a few click adjustments from yesterdays range session.
First 2 left.
clicked a few, and fired 5 shots.
With the 1 grain increase in powder charge, I think the group opened up quite a bit, but I was also fighting a good 2 o'clock wind.
Gonna go 0.030 off next with the same charge and see what happens.

Im still very happy with my handy work.

It's gonna be good before your through with it I'm sure. Strictly FWIW, my 2 7Mags both like 160 AB's/RL22 .005-.010 off. Any idea of velocity yet?

no.
Id have to bring a cinder block and some rope to tie under my chrono tripod so the wind won't blow it over.
Wind is supposed to still be bad for another day, so maybe Thursday?

Nice looking rifle, great group. (The grass sucks, though.)

What is the velocity?

Gonna try to shoot again later today and take my chrono.
Loaded 6 up at 0.010 off with 66.0 grs of Rldr22.

Gotta go visit the doc first. bp isn't good, and pills I got last month don't seem to be working too well.
Either a refill or try another?

This is a fun project to relax playing with. I drew nothing, so no need to hurry to find a load.

Splatter still looking good. You need a nice concrete bench out there... grin

Hang a heavy sandbag or a bag of shot to your chronograph tripod....that'll hold it in place and they don't blow over.

Good luck at the doc's my friend. Hope you get that straightened out. As for the 7mm, looking good. I really enjoy shooting mine as well. Just a heads up, crod1972 had a bunch of brass for sale the other day.

For all you reloaders out there, here is a good thread on seating depth, and how it effects accuracy.
The smallish groups above were actually set at about 0.036 off. mis measurement.
I up the charge and started closer. 0.010 as seen by the group just above from last evening.
Today I loaded 5 each at 0.020 off and 0.030 off.
The 0.036 group wasn't bad, but started a new base line.
Today 0.020 off group. slightly smaller than 0.010.

Only shot 4. Didn't want to waste another round.
Then I moved to the right diamond.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing at each shot thru the spotted.

What a diff 0.010 made!
The whole target.

The book I have and web site say 65.0 grs of rldr22 out of a 24" tube, should be 2976 fps. Im a grain over, so the 160 nab "should" be a solid 3,000 fps.
I measured and remeasured the group.
I came up with. 0.473. now subtract 0.284, that makes the group 0.189.

Not bad for a factory tube that I screwed on! !

Gonna load a few more, just to make sure this wasn't a fluke.

Hey Bob.
Still want me to shoot some groups for you? !!

So. This just may be the end of the story of the reborn 7mm Remington mag story.
Now to load, test, make a dope chart, and go kill stuff.

There's a deal on sh for a complete ceracoat job for 62.50, I just might take advantage of.

This may be the end

Nice work splatter! I love it when a good plan works out, don't you? So the target on the right is @ .030 off, correct? What was the OAL if you don't mind?

Your thread made me want to look at some data I had. I'm assuming you've seen no pressure signs yet? My HCR wears a 26" bbl. I wound up stopping at 66.5g RL22, which gave me an avg. of 3063fps. I'd bet you're right in that you've got to be kissing that 3000 number. Thanks for the update....nice shootin'!!!

With the bullet I used to measure with and load the first round to set my dies, it was 3.331, subtract the 0.030, and I loaded to 3.301.
I always use the bullet I measure the oal length with to load my first round and lock my dies.

That way I know I am right on the money with the measurement, since bullets most always have a variance.

I just figure 3k, and that was my target speed I wanted to be at.
Recoil is not abusive, and actually, pleasant to deal with.
Primer still have a rounded edge to them. Im not wanting to hot rod this thing. I want a decent pleasurable rifle to shoot.
