Im looking for a high quality ultra light boot

Non insulated that will be used for spot and stalk deer and elk in the Rocky Mountains

I have several pairs of boots that range from Danner Pronghorns to Irish Setter Elk Trekers

I'm currently looking at Lowa Camino GTX but haven't ruled out Mendle

Thoughts?

Define ultra light??

Look at the Hanwag Mountain Light GTX, or the Cheyenne GTX there the most comfortable boots I have ever used!

Ultra may be to much......my prov is....my full dose boots, on my didgital scale go over 3 lbs each or 6+ lbs

Great boots.....they just tire after days of picking them up and putting them down

I would like 4 lbs or less per pair

Lately I've been finding crazy cheap prices on military boots. These are super good prices for Danners, but I've seen some other brands selling for as little as $25. I've bought myself and family members several. Lightweight, comfortable and durable. You can find them with or without gore-tex as well as with or without insulation.

I bought a pair of these $300 boots 5-6 years ago for $130. Still going strong and no leaks. I had a pair of the same boots several years ago that lasted me 13 years. They were the same boot, just dark brown and with a black sole and marketed as a hunting boot.

Getting away from Danner

Look at Crispi boots. Great stuff.

Have you tried the military editions. They are built on a different last than their hunting boots. Danner uses at 3 different lasts. The USA made hunting boots are too narrow for my foot. The imported boots are built on a 2nd, which I find better, but just not perfect. The military boots are built on a completely different last and fit me much better.

I won't try to talk you into something you don't want, but if you get an opportunity try some on you might be surprised.

The Mountain Light is pretty intriguing. I'd worry about the Cheyenne where the seams meet at the inner/outer ball joints of the foot. Without a rand, I'd have that torn to shreds in no time.

Ted, the Cabelas/Meindl Denali trends toward the upper limit of your weight criteria but it's a dang fine boot.

I like the looks and the specks of several of the boots mentioned but I like to try on boots before I buy so a trip to Cabelas is coming

Check out Kenetrek Hardscrabble Light Hunting Boots. They are 3.3 lbs per pair. I have the Kenetrek Mountain extremes which are a bit heavier and they have been great boots. They have served me well for the past 3 seasons and are still going strong.

+1 on the Crispi. I have tried most top brands and the Crispis are my choice. I have the "Wild" model.
