Took possession of a new 25-06 barrel for my K95 Saturday. This will become my primary Pronghorn gitter. Need to send it to San Antonio for a bit of final fitting, as it common with additional barrels for the K95.
I've never owned a 25-06 so so those of you who know it well are welcome to school me on it. I'll pick up some different types of ammo to see what it likes which will also provide me some brass for load development.
Any powder recommendations? What about optics?

I only have a barrel for my K95, so I have a question about adding a second barrel.

Do you need to have a separate forearm with every extra barrel?

congrats on your new barrel. 25-06 should be a great one.

thank you. There is no need for an additional forearm unless you are adding a different contour, such as Octagonal instead of round, or round instead of octagonal.

All barrels, there are only two - std and octagonal use the same barrel without any gaps

Congats! Make sure we get some pictures when it get's back.

I love the .25-06 round. (Whitetail, speed goats, coyotes.)

The fitting is straightforward. I was ok with two with no work, but when I got the third I had to send them all to Blaser for fitting. It didn't take long at all.

They fit to the one with the shortest catch and lightly file the others to match. I guess it could be a real challenge if you had a lot of barrels.

I may find out, as I have a Blaser addiction.

Yes, the addiction is spread through shooting forums, I'm told. I should receive mine back this week. Got it back but had to send it back for some final adjusting. Not a big deal and I'm quite confident when it gets back to me, it'll shoot like every other Blaser I own.

I posted on a Blaser-specific website how you know when you have too much Blaser gear ... it IS an addiction.

I saw your post there and agree with you. I'm thinking of starting a local chapter of Blaser aholics...

I'll post photos when I get it back and in the field.

I've been looking at the K95's for awhile now and finally found one that was a pretty good deal - an unfired Prestige chambered in ,243. Just got into my dealer's the other day and am champing at the bit for the 10 day period to finish so I can pick it up.

I'm looking for at least one other barrel and maybe two,

I wasn't aware Blaser chambered a barrel in .25/06 - it isn't in their catalog - was it a special order? If so, can you point me in the right direction?

Some barrels have come and gone and come again.

Call one of the larger Blaser dealers and they can tell you more about what's available with and without special order.

Used barrels show up from time to time on eBay, Gunbroker, etc., as well, but they are fairly rare.

Blaser also has a few barrels that were produced for a certain geography and only show up somewhere else because of private sales or importing. (Example: 300 WSM isn't offered in the R8 in the US due to patent/trademark issues.)

Mad Dog Guns in Scottsdale, AZ has lots of K95 barrels, some with iron sights, some octagonal.
Do a search on gunbroker for K95 barrels and he'll show up. If you need something in particular, let me know.

I have had 4 barrels for my K-95 and none have needed fitting. Am down to 3 now as I had a 6.5 swede that had extraction issues so I went with a 6.5x57R instead. Have a 300 WM that is flawless though. Then also have a 5.6x50R. Other than double rifles this rifle is now the only rifle I will fly with. Once I flew with a take-down case I can't go back. Will be headed to Oklahoma again next month with it for Whitetail.

It's the 6.5 Swede that I wanted most. They are very hard to find. Good luck here in OK on your deer hunt. In what part of the state will you be?

I would think if you call Mad Dog guns he will have a 6.5 swede in stock. Though it will be full blown retail. I wish mine would have extracted properly. But am now just as happy with the 6.5x57R once I located a few hundred pieces of brass. In OK we hunt just about 30-45 minutes or so west of Ft. Smith, AR.
