Anyone interested in going with us for a Croatian ram hunt 15-18 May? Price is 1649 Euro for a three day hunt and a ram up to 70cm. This is on the Adriatic coast near Senj. Need to know no later than 6 May. This is a link to the Outfitter we will be going with:
We saw a ton of mufflon ram today. 2 of the guys that came with me both got rams. Both from 60-65 cm. We saw plenty of rams but they were either too big or too small for me too shoot. I will try to get up some pics
My two buddies and I departed Vienna, Austria on Thursday for the 6 hour drive down to the Croatian Coast. On the way we stopped at the Steyr Mannlicher shooting range. We tested our rifles for 100,200 and 300 meter shots. We were all satisfied with our rifles. Once we arrived on the coast we linked up with our hunting guides threw our stuff in our room and went out ram hunting. These are Corsican Rams on the Adriatic Coast. The rocky coastline goes from sea level to 1300m in a hurry. The terrain is very rocky and steep. Perfect for sheep. The first night we saw a few but it was more like scouting. The second day Greg shot the first mufflon. He was at 150m but only had a 60cm Curl. Greg was hoping for a bigger one. My buddy mike was up next. My guide and I found some rams at 300meters. I had already gotten one before, so I wanted to give Mike the first chance. He moved within 165m and took his ram with one shot Using my Balser R93 .308 with Zeiss scope. I still need his pics! I followed up that evening with my 68 Ram. He was shot at 220m with my Rem .270 and Leupold VX-R patrol scope. Here are some shots of my position and my ram. I followed up that evening with a 2 year old Wild boar up high in the mountains as well. Greg decided that he wanted another ram. So on the last morning we went out and found this beauty for him. 200m Shot. Any one interested in hunting in Europe let me know.
In Europe they base trophy fees on the length of horns in centimeters or the weight of the Antlers in Kilograms. The bigger your trophy the more you have to pay.
Nice Ram's Buzz. Looks like a beautiful place to hunt. I've always wanted to visit Croatia.
Here's mine....Iranian Red Sheep with my 257 Weatherby. Kind of cheated though. Didn't have to travel to Iran to shoot him, only had to drive an hour from my house here in Central Texas to a game ranch. Not nearly as fun as your hunt, I'm sure.
I have an R93 Luxus in .308 Win, with a Zeiss 3x12x56. Great for early morning and late evening hunting in Europe. I also have a Rem .270 Mtn Rifle for the Alpine Hunts.
