I'm looking into get a a leather belts and holsters for some of my handguns.

Three color options are usually given: tan; Cordovan/oxblood; or black.

Which color due you like for your gun leather & why your preference for that color?

Thanks for the feedback!

Most of my holsters and gun belts are black, but when I purchase more, I think that I go with tan leather.

For revolvers, I like tan. For semi-autos, I like black. There is no particular reason other than personal preference.

I tend to like black as it goes with everything and does not show wear so much.

For general carrying (non-concealed,) I prefer the tan as matches most of my "hunting" belts. For concealed carry, I prefer black. I've never thought about why...?

Pretty sure this is mahogany, and it is my choice as well.

I like tan for most of my gear. One of the reasons is that I like the way tan leather ages with time and use. Nice well used leather rigs remind me of old saddles, tack and other cowboy gear.

A nice old model 29 .44 Magnum, with blue wear from years afield, with a saddle tan holster that has seen many a mile in the mountains and deserts and trails, just looks "Old School Cool" to me.

i use all three colors.

for appearance only, i've always liked the cordovan color best.

when it comes to being out in the woods, especially on longer hikes/climbs--i only use the "natural buckskin" or tan color, as getting caught in a mountain rainstorm while completely out in the open makes for some really wet gear. this can cause some of the dyed leathers to bleed off color, which can get on clothing, etc.

Tan or black works equally well for me.

Galco's "Havana Brown" is very near the top for me. Otherwise, I like black gun leather.

That's only because I'm not racist.

For D/A revolvers i think black basketweave is just classic

Autos- basic black. However with Stainless Autos i think black with mahogony gator or ostrich trim just looks good.

Single action revolvers, well I've gotta go with Mac's old saddle brown

Holsters will be for stainless 1911 Colt XSE Govt. The second holster for stainless 5.5" Ruger Redhawk 44mag.

The holster for 1911 will be for IDPA. I want an OWB for the 1911.

Don't care for kydex holsters and rather go for good leather. Buy quality leather once, cry once. smile
