I was wondering where in Canada would have the best location for hunting moose? Looking for just meat hunting no trophy rack hunting.

Newfoundland.

Keith is probably right when you balance out the price of a hunt where you have a good expectation of seeing game. To get the same likelihood of seeing game in Ontario or Manitoba the cost would likely double.

And this year, in my home WMU's, the tags have gone down by as much as 80%. It will be a long time before we see any reasonable likelihood of a tag in the lottery.

So, is there a remedy?
The spring bear hunt?
Hope for better winters?
Other?

A fence across the 49th parallel from east to went, and a north south fence starting at just about Terrace Bay would be a good start. Keep the hunters in their home areas. At least until the moose populations improve.

Aw c'mon Keith, aren't we all Ontarians?

Who knows, maybe it will be a lack of moose and not old age that will stop my moose hunting.

Providence slipped right by me. Looks like the providence of God will be the only way for most of us to get a tag here in Ontario. They tell me there are still a goodly number of tourist tags, though.

Well, fencing off Canada just might keep the boys busy for a while.

Just rough figurin' looks like a four wire barbed fence would use something like $5,586,000.00 in wire alone.
The posts would be all of that, plus the posts in the Great Lakes would be higher priced in that they need to be taller.
staples, and of course, labour add some as well.
Then don't forget a few gates, just in case the odd Canuck wants to visit out of country.

I hope this finds you and yours doing acceptably well tonight and staying cool enough. We're at an nice even 100.4�F this evening, but as we like to say.....it's a dry heat.

Honestly I've got to admit that I missed the misspelling on the first several runs through - no harm and no foul to the OP though.

With tongue firmly planted in cheek whilst adhering to the original question with it's original meaning - which as I looked up is "the protective care of God or of nature as a spiritual power"

So with that in mind, I'd suggest that the best providence for moose hunting would be killing one on a grassy slope, directly uphill from a nice ditch one is able to easily back into. Oh, it'd be nice if the bank was level with the tailgate when it's dropped too.

In all seriousness to the OP, from all reports we get it'd be really tough to top the numbers of moose you'd see in Newfoundland.

I've yet to meet a cantankerous Newfoundlander too for that matter. The only thing I'd perhaps suggest is not getting into an alcohol consumption contest with one.

I am not trying to stir the pot or created problems but where would be the best place for a southerner (Texas) to be able to hunt? When I was in Alberta in 2013 I was led to believe that aliens could not moose hunt in Alberta.

Someone here may know off the top of their head, but I'd say, Google it up.

The ministries of the different province's have websites.
It may well be an evening's reading project.
