I was wondering if anyone would share how far off the lands they are loading these bullets for best accuracy. I want the see if there is a general trend.

Thanks!

I've been working with the LRABs in a 280AI. The 150s & 168s didn't dial in until they were .030 to .050 off the lands. A few months ago I shot the .308 190s out of a 300RUM. Found "the" load with 96gr Retumbo and .035 off the lands. 3210fps and .5MOA out to 600yds. Most shooters are having the best accuracy at .02 to .05 off the lands. They like even more jump than the standard Accubonds.

Good to know. Thanks for the response.

I started at .020 off the lands for charge weight, so I will go further from the lands from there.

I'm at .060, & still playing, but .040-.010 all shot 3" groups where .060" odds just a touch su moa. This is the .284 @ 175gr, 3050 fps.

How much bullet bearing surface do you guys have in the neck of the .300's or the 280AI when seating the LR Accubonds as close as you are seating and with the 168 in .284 and in the .300's will the round fit in the magazine/box?
Thanks
Dave

So, I finally got around to shooting a couple seating depths. I shot 0.010 to 0.050 (in 0.010" steps) off the lands with very poor results. I am going to try 0.060-0.090 next and hope for a miracle.

I was really surprised by the 3-5" groups and hope accuracy improves.

Race,
The .284 150's would only get within.037 of the lands and still maintain a caliber's worth of bearing. If I remember right I've run the oal out to 3.395. The 168s will reach the lands but they seem to like a "little" freebore. I'm going to try .05,.06 and.07 next time out. I'm getting 1" groups with several loads but mostly 2 in and 1 out so I'm hoping to suck the other one in. The two together are almost always touching.
