I often see a minimum legal caliber for Zimbabwe and Namibia plains game. Just curious for those in the know, what is a 7mm?

Is it a .284" bullet/groove diameter as Americans would refer to a 7mm?

Is it anything larger than actual 7mm (ie .276") so a .277 would meet the requirement?

Does it refer to land diameter or groove bullet diameter?

Thinking of booking Namibia and wondering if I can legally bring my .270.

Best bet is to ask the PH with whom you will be hunting. 7mm doesn't seem to be a law so much as a suggestion; my hunting partner used a .270 WSM which he borrowed from the PH last year, and I watched a hunting show where the hunter used a .260.

Kinda wondered that myself. If you mic a 270 bullet, it's 7.0 mm and 7mm bullets are 7.2.

Just ask your PH. I just got back from Zim and took an 06 and a .260 rem, the only discussion about size of cartridge was with the PH about what was appropriate. The .260 was great for impala, warthog, etc.
