I took the old Blackhawks 30 carbine out today... Forgot how much fun it is to shoot. Haven't shot it in 10 or 12 years..
Any one else have one of these..

I am tinkering with some loads for mine and have had a grand time with 115 grain lead bullets pushed by the load of Unique shown in the Lyman manual. It is quite accurate and pleasant to shoot. I did find that some cases that had been fired several times did need some trimming.

Those loads designed for rifles do make quite a boom.

That would be a fun gun to shoot. Never seen one, but hope to one day

Had one several years ago. Loud. I couldn't find a purpose for
it. Now 44mag, a purposeful loud thumping caliber. Love it.

My truck gun is a Winchester M1 Carbine. The Ruger makes a great companion for the carbine when just farting around on the back 40.

Loud, yeah. I use ear protection even if I'm shooting a .22. Mine's pretty accurate too. I actually got it for a donor and never really shot it much.

They make a good companion for the 30 carbine, and the thought was to take advantage of all the surplus ammo that used to be out there.

As it is today, it's a great prospect for the hand loader. It's kind of like a .32 H&R Magnum. It takes care of the "loud" problem and can often be had at a bargain due to the number of owners that turn away from them.

I saw one many years ago in a gun shop and I had no idea what a 30 Carbine round even was.
Intrigued, I went back to the store a couple days later and found a box in the ammo shelves -
I looked at the size of that cartridge and decided I want the revolver ...
It was already sold and I never saw another Ruger Blackhawk, 30 Carbine, SA Revolver again.

(I Later found a nice M1 Carbine, though.)

I've still got the one I bought in '71, but haven't shot it for a while.
Makes a lot of noise.
