Just got a note back from Dakota Arms. This rifle isn't exactly as listed. It's their Classic all dressed up in African options.

And yes, they'll put one together in 7x57 with the classic 1:220mm twist, 5-6 month delivery. That would be just in time for my birthday!! grin

Only for those of us who still start a fire by rubbing two sticks together. smirk

By the way Ingwe, you got a Bass Pro out your way? Down here they have Thermacell on sale for $25 and that includes the holster that you normally have to buy separately. You're gonna want one when you venture to our fair state.

If it was me ordering a Dakota, this is what I'd get.

22" barrel.

Upgrade the stock.

NO cheekpiece.

Caliber whatever is striking my fancy at the time.

Every thing else is just money in a hole. smile

I had this early 416 Rigby for a number of years. Perfect feed and extract and was very accurate with the 400 gr Hornady and RL22. Beautifully made piece. I bought it for a song and sold it for twice the song. grin Gent from SoCal bought it for a buffalo hunt. I see it is now for sale at Champlin's.

We're just down the road from Dakota Arms. First Stop Gun in town claims to have the largest selection of Dakotas. Don't know for sure, but they have a bunch.

I could really like that Dakota 10 if it didn't have that gawd awful pad hanging on the butt. A Niedner plate would look sooooo much better..

I'm betting they'll make it any way you like.
