I think I remeber what you talking about. Was it a spinner that attached on a wire shaft to the front and rear of the blade?

Yes, a loop for the leader, the red, and white spinner blade, and a spring keeper for the loop on the hook end.
The Weller used a double hook through the loop on the hook end. You put the wire through a minnow, then put the hook on.

I believe I might still have a June bug spinner. A smaller, but similar style is the Marathon spinner. I still have a number of those in very small sizes for stream trout.

Like this? Remember them well. All the ones I remember having were silver. I particularly remember the little "leg" on the blade that kept the blade standing off.

Yes indeed.
Steel rods, 50 pound green Shakespeare braided line, a wire leader, dog-eared sinkers, a Shakespeare reel, and oh, my, the fish we landed.

Now there's a blast from the past. Still have a couple red/white in the tackle box that my grandfather used - and I'm not that young. We used them for northerns, classic northern colors, pretty effective still.
