Having been out of the US for almost two years when I landed in Spokane for a few weeks at our place in Idaho a month ago I bee-lined to Costco in CD'A and bought a pack of their 1/2#'ers and jumbo buns. Drove to the place, lit a fire, poured a martini and skewered two. Mustard, red onion and tomato and I was spinning.
save all your bacon drippings for a week or two (assuming you eat bacon!), and mix the drippings with equal amount of butter and a healthy dash of salt. Use this to baste your hot dogs, or spread it on some toasted bread if you're feeling adventurous.
I discovered that my knackwurst recipe tastes almost identical to the Ambassador hot dogs, but mine are made with pork intestine casings so they're thicker. But oh, so good! Bring on the kraut and spicy brown mustard!

I just won't eat that crap shown in the video. Geez Louise! Chicken, pork, beef? No way. I want my scrapings and trim parts to be all beef, and Kosher.
Nathan's Famous headed for my grill tonight. I'm already drooling!
Grill?
Yep, just a good old charcoal Weber. All this talk of hot dogs made me thaw out a few of my dwindling stash of Sechrist smoked franks (small family-owned butcher shop) for tonight's grilling. Gotta get up to York, PA soon to replenish the supply. Wash 'em down with a cold IPA, while wondering what the poor people are having for dinner.

Mmmmmmm, nothing better than Maine Red Snapper hot dogs and a cold Narragansett lagahh!!
Had those when I was moose hunting in Maine and they were surprisingly very good. Previous to that every hotdog I'd ever seen that color red was a cheap gut bomber.

I do like good hot dogs, but I'd probably simmer them.
