I mostly shoot the 130 TSX/TTSX in mine. Of the powders you mention, 7828 works well with okay accuracy and H4831 didn't shoot as well for me. I've also shot a fair amount of RL 22, RL 25 and Ramshot Magnum. My best accuracy has been with RL 22, though I get better velocities with RL 25 and Magnum. I just loaded some 150 LR Accubonds with RL 22 to try out but haven't shot them yet...

I've found 7828 to be a laying on of the hands for Weatherby's ranging from 240's to 300's.

I had good results with the 150 Interbond and 73 grains of 7828 and even better results with 71 grains of RL22 and the 140 grain TSX.

I've also found IMR-7828 (original version) to give the best accuracy and decent velocities with .170 and .300 Wthbys. My .257 though seems to like Magnum, though IMR-7828 is runner-up. RL-22 does not work in my .257 for some reason.

A friends load: so work up to it. 70 grains IMR-4831 with a 150 Nosler Partition. He shoots bug holes with it, in his gun.

Be safe, work up all loads.

No, Roy Weatherby requested the creation of the Fed 215 from Federal and they work the best in my 270 Wthby mag with 7828 73 grs and 150 gr Hornady SP's and Weatherby brass 3150 in a 24" barrel excellent accuracy. Magnum Man

Not really a true statement. Roy Weatherby requested the creation of the Fed 215 primer but it was not for ignition issues with the .270 Wby or any of the cartridges built off the H&H case.

I have really good results with the WLRM primer in the .270 Wby. Your results may vary.

I tried to reply last night but my browser kept freezing up. Work up with your 7828 to +/-3400 fps if you have chronograph. I get 3425 at 74 gr. Nosler #6 lists max with their bullets at 74.5 gr.

"Weatherby, The man.The gun.The legend." by Grits and Tom Gresham.page 208

He went to his friend Charlie Horn, who had established the Federal Cart Company, and told him of this problem of ignition problems in the 378 Weatherby Mag.
"We'll make you a primer that ,by God, will set your powder ablaze," Horn told him. And , thus, the hotter No 215 primer was born, which has been used ever since by Weatherby, as well as by handloaders, ." Yes what did you say again? Well I didn't imply that they were brought about for the 270 especially but they do work well in the 270 Wthby as well as the 378 -460. Mag Man
