After reading this forum, it seems like certain areas like many western states and texas, but there isn't any supply in Minnesota. It doesn't matter if you're in the metro or rural areas. The only people getting it are the non-working guys that can stand in line when the store opens.

Although I did score a brick of cci minimags at gander mountain. They had a sale on it and I came in looking for a couple items beyond 22 ammo and I asked about 22 shells,. He said he had none to sell beyond whats allocated for 22 rifle sales and I said "ok". I must have had a sad look on my face or he never sees me there standing in line at opening and all of a sudden produced a brick for me!

The same thing happened to me, except I had my wife and son with me, and I was telling him about the three of us going out and shooting the Ruger Rimfire Challenges, before I knew it he was walking from the back room with a ammo box full of CCI Mini Mags. smile

I'm bad with the picture thing on this website, but think of it this way...
Remember the day Obama got re-elected - don't use that angry face. Use the face that you had when you realize that Hillary will be next...
Sorry for bumming you out.

thats it: non working slugs, 'able bodied' disability folks. Too poor of health to work anywhere buy yet they muster up the strength somehow to stand in line for 3 hours in the pre dawn darkness, along with the fake-fibromyalgia exhooker common law wives. So they can buy all this bulk bullshit 5 moa ammo and sell it on their local swap and shop trailer park network or the flea market. What gets me is the dumphucks who keep paying them $50 a brick for it.

Exactly.. As long as idiots will pay 3-4X the price for ammo, the scalpers will set the price of ammo.

So those idiots are supposed to tell their grandchildren that they cannot take them shooting because someone in the interweb is gonna call him an idiot? .... Really??

Some folks here really need to think before shooting out such blanket statements.

If it were my children or grandchildren who wanted to shoot, I'd spend what I needed to keep'em in the game.

Fortunately not my problem, I have years before I need to consider buying.

Its not just the internet people. The gun stores are starting to do the $40 brick. I ask them the price and politley decline to buy. It gives them the signal as I walk out.

We have one local shop/store here jack the prices, but only about $10 a brick .... keeps the scalpers at bay since that cut's into their profit margin. But still no where near scalpers prices .... all in all I think its about as fair as it's going to get. Our local SW has recognized most of the scalpers and will only sell one brick to them ... kinda nice they're trying .... But its gonna be a long time until it ends. Hopefully winter while no one is shooting much will help supply catch up.

Just got a brick of RWS SS online. Good stuff but pricey compared to $13 Fed 550-rd bulk pack in 2012. Happy as heck it's en route. Shoots great in most of my . 22s.

I picked up a brick of that today. I passed on a two box (50) limit with $11.99 shipping yesterday, and bricks popped up this morning with the same shipping cost and lower price per box. Glad I waited!

I have begun to see .22 RF in 50 Rd. boxes appearing in local gun stores in Austin, TX. Paid $3.50 and $4.50 a box for CCI Blazers in 2 places on Friday, they had other brands too. Was weird to see lots of .22 for sale. The big retailers like Dicks, Academy and Wallyworld are without, did see a few boxes at Academy over the last year but the manager said it goes fast when they put it out. Have not been to my local Cabelas in 6 months due to driving distance, they probably have some on the shelf by now

When we have shootings/murder in Austin the crooks seem to be using center fire handguns, I wonder if the lack of .22's is affecting them too?

I just paid $135.00 for 500 rounds of CCI Velicitor and was glad to get it. My wife's little Beretta Model 21 loves the stuff, and is, so far, 100% reliable with this ammo only.

I have 12,000 rounds of .22 LR stashed in the garage. I made it a habit a long time ago to grab a $10.95 brick of .22 LR almost every time I went to the gun-shop. Now it is paying off - and NO it ain't for sale.

What a bargain! Only .27/round. Geesh....

Somewhere along the line you fellas with the voracious appetites for RF ammo need to step back and ponder the economics of what you're doing. .22s are useful for a myriad of things, but there are a lot of cheaper alternatives available these days. Seriously.

Buy yourself some casting equipment and see the light.

Lead can be had cheap if you scrounge around for it. Or you can go high end and purchase it directly from suppliers for a bit more. Depending on source we're talking less than $1 up to $2/lb.

A pound of lead will give you this:

-155 .22 caliber bullets of 45gr. .6 to 1.2 cents per bullet
-116 .25 caliber bullets of 60 gr. .86 to 1.7 cents per bullet
-41 .30 caliber bullets of 170 gr. 2.4 to 4.8 cents/bullet
-44 .357 caliber bullets of 158 gr. 2.25 to 4.5 cents/bullet

At the worst pricing I've seen at gun shows or retailers powder runs about $30/#. That's about .4 cents per grain.
Likewise, primers run about $40/K, or 4 cents a pop.

One can reload cast bullets in CF cartridges at approximately the following cost schedule per round:

.22 CF at a velocity of around 1500-2000 fps - 7.1 to 7.5 cents
.25 CF, vel 1500-1800 fps - 7.4 to 8 cents
.30 CF, vel 1600-1800 fps - 13.2 to 16 cents
.357 CF, vel 800-1400 fps - 7.45 to 11.7 cents

It takes a couple of hours to make 200 bullets with a double cavity mould. Maybe 30 minutes to lube and size.

not a thing disturbed about your post there Dan. I shoot every day. 3030 45-70 30-06 whatever, but save my 22lr for ground squirrels.
