I bought my 25 year old daughter a new Win Model 70 Featherweight stamped "Morgan Utah" last year in 270 (spare me the jokes) and I don't know much about the trigger. I'm familiar with the former, pre-'64 style trigger but this newer one is obviously different. It breaks at 4 1/4 lbs and feels like it needs more overtravel if that makes sense. The trigger feels like it just barely moves enough to release the sear before stopping it's rearward movement. Make sense?

The 2 adjustment screws in the front of the trigger housing (poundage and engagement?) look like the heads have been cut off so they aren't adjustable and are covered in what looks like hot glue. Any way to lighten this trigger a little and increase overtravel? It does go boom every time but it makes me nervous. I'm competent with rifle work i.e. bedding, trigger work etc, but I've never seen one like this. Thanks guys.

I found a little info online but they're saying it takes a 1/16" alan wrench to adjust the trigger screws but my screws look like they're flat on the end like they had their heads cut off...

That's the MOA trigger. I'm having a hard time selling mine for $9.99 on eBay. I replaced with the Timney. The one thing I really dislike about the Timney is the trigger shoe - it's much straighter than the original. Much different than the Timney's I have for M77's and M700's.

Yes, mine looks just like that, and like I said, the adjustment screws look like the heads have been cut off. I guess I'll just have to replace the whole thing. I've had great luck with Timneys in the past but I'll check out what you're saying about the shape of the shoe. Looks like yours still has the "hot glue" looking crap on the screws. I'd be interested to see what the screw heads look like on another rifle. Thanks MuskegMan.

After I chipped off and used nail polish remover to get all the glue out, there are indeed 1/16" allan screws in there.

Unless they changed them since my 2008 model was built, it is adjustable for pull weight. I put an Ernie's spring in mine and got it down to about 2 1/2#. Nice and crisp, with no creep. Best I could get before the change was about 3 1/2#, which is not bad.

Use a small pick to remove the epoxy from the screw.
Back the screw out.
The manual says that the screw falls out at 3 lbs.
Use some loc tite (blue) when done.
