Just picked up some good deals on 308 brass recently. In one batch of 200pcs of W-W brand, the guy threw in an extra 150pcs of PPU for free. It won't come in time for me to fully inspect before i leave for several weeks due to work. Anyone work with it? I've come across a few pieces scrounging scrap from the local range, but never had enough to really reload with. The new ammo I've seen it used in looks good with annealed necks, and was confirmed to be true commercial 308 and not military crimped 7.62 NATO. What's the internal volume like compared to other more well known brass? I've done several searches, and only came across those who measured/segregated cases by weight. Never could find anything about volume.

I haven't used the 308 win brass in PPU but use their 9.3x62 and am happy with it. Like any brass I cull some of it due to the sizing dimension at the base is off and fits very tightly in the shell holder or some other issue but it's minimal. I think out of 100 pcs I usually throw 8-10 pcs out if that?

I would load it up and shoot it!

I've used PPU .308 brass a little (about 40 rounds through several reloadings) and it worked just fine. I had no issues.

Deprime and weigh a few. The ones I have weigh in the 175+ grain range, similar to thick LC and FC brass. I load them the same way I load the LC, and they shoot the same way with the same loads.

If we re talking privi partisan brass I've used it in 308. The stuff I had needed the shoulders bumped back w/my body die in virgin form just to cycle in one 308.
It is heavy and thick but not as bad as federal or nosler. Its not horrible nor is it very refined brass. Load em one grain under your fav win case loads and check em over the chrono...mine are equal when i do that.

In my limited experience with Prvi Partizan brass, it sucks.

I bought 100 new pieces of 7-08 brass. Neck thickness is all over the place, the rims vary in size to the point that some won't fit in the shell holder and the primer pockets are a joke -- some are too big, some are too small, very few are just right -- they all need attention.

There is no consistent neck tension straight out of the bag. Some bullets can EASILY be seated by hand. Weight is all over the place too.

Maybe I got a bad lot? I'll never buy more...

One advantage of buying used brass sometimes I suppose, especially if it's allready been fired in a minimum spec match chamber.
