I have White Oak chambered barrel.

What full length sizing die should I use?

As much as I like Redding dies, their fl sizing die wouldn't quite get the base down for a White Oak chamber here. The std. RCBS fl die worked fine.

Hornady or RCBS for me.

Redding is all I've ever used on any of Johns guns. But I measure headspace on fired brass, compare to chamber size and then adjust as needed including spacer shellholders.

You do not need a Small base die unless you possibly have machine gun brass for reloading and have to size it the first time. SAW brass supposedly, though I've never used or needed a SB die in any 223 I have had.

I'd go with a standard Redding die.

I've had zero issues with mine, and that includes the sizing of some SAW brass.

I've got RCBS, Hornady and Lee 223 sizer dies I use for my AR. ZERO problems. None of them are small base dies.

As a general rule, the less you work your brass, the better. So I'd avoid buying a small base die unless I encountered a specific problem that required one. I've been loading for AR's now for about 20 years, and so far I've never needed one.

I"ve got about the same amount of time on ARs reloading, maybe a bit more. Many years up to about 20,000 rounds reloaded.

I still don't own a SB die for the AR 223 ammo.

I do own one in 308 for M14 ammo and it created more accurate ammo for whatever reason...

I use a standard FL die but I run range brass through a 38/357 mag carbide die with the decapping rod removed. It only squeezes the case web area.

Why, have you had problems or just doing so as a precaution?

As a precaution. I have some range brass I bought on the classifieds that needed using the 357 die. I have a modified (the top is bored through) .45 acp carbide die I run my 243, 7mm-08, & 30-06 brass through.
