5 years ago I was buying commercial Mausers for $300 and passing at $400, and throwing the stock, barrel, and scopes away.
Then I would build them into a custom for me. Since then the value of commercial Mausers has gone up.

Josh, it appears to be a Santa Barbara commercial Mauser action. The P sequence Serial number..... Quite a few were used for custom builds during that period. They were also sold as kits and finished rifles. Your MIL's is a Nice looking basic custom. The 358 isn't all the rage now so I'm not sure it'll enhance the value. My guess is $500 max, but be prepared for less.
