I can't find the Hornady, so going with the Speer.

In 250 Savage, Rem Classic.

I think I have (open cans of ) 3031, 4350, and 4895.

Any suggestions?

If you mean IMR4895, then 33 grains should be about right for a standard pressure load. I use that with 100 gr. Sierras in my 700 Classic, and it gives a bit over 2700 fps. Very low recoil and report, and quite accurate.

If you want to try a modern bolt gun only type load, there's another node up around 35 grains.

I've used several. Sierra Game Kings and Pro Hunters, Hornady Interlock, and Nosler Ballistic Tip.

The Speer you have should be just fine in the 250.

found a box of midway mystery spitzers! (in the garage)

Also, the reports of a half can of 4895 were not exaggerated, they were wrong! did find 4198, 3031 and 4350, all the duPont flavor.

Think I will try the 4350 first.

33.5 grains of H-4895 runs 100 grain Hornady SP 2820 fps out of my 700 Classic with .8 MOA accuracy. Never saw a need for anything else. Oh, one other thing about my 700 is it does not like the bullet close to the lands but, prefers a .015" to .020" jump.

makes a .308 print bugholes too.

IMR 4350 is gonna be pretty slow in a .250 sav. Although I've gotten good results from a full case of H4350 (40 ish grains) with the Sierra 100 g PH and the hornady 100 g interlock.

Hornady has recently resumed production of the .25 cal Interlock.

I guess it is still a matter of finding them. Their website changed from 'temporarily suspended' to 'purchase from retailer'.

If you're looking for cheap blasting bullets to use for practice I just got 500-100 gr. SPFBs produced by Prvi Partisan through Graf & Sons for $108. They look like they'd fly similar to the Interlocks we hunt, and my son wants to practice w/ his Bob!

I'll report later on how they stack up accuracy-wise against Hornadys.
