A friend's dad told me he was shooting his 30-06 at the range and was accidentally feeding it 270 ammo. Said he couldn't hit the target at all, and couldn't figure out why until he looked at the fired cases.

I think he over tightened the scope rings...

Buddy of mine bought aa7 pistol powder instead of re7 for his new 4570.
Somehow his marlin digested the first few loads. Then came a shell that was bulged from crimping. He hammered the lever closed w/the palm of his hand and pulled the trigger. No head/eye damage but extreme damage to the left hand. He still reloads and shoots but much more careful these days.

I had a 58 caliber Muzzle loader. Loaded it with 120gr of Black powder, .58 round ball pounded down with a stainless rod with knob on end. Got distracted then fired it with the rod. Recoil was pretty stout. I was shooting at an old WWII training range at 100yrds. Found the rod at about the 90yrd mark. There was about a 4" .58" screw in the once straight steel rod and the knob was gone. Young and Dumb is a bad combo.

Dad found out that 308's fired out of a 30-06 don't work - they sound funny, hit low, and straight wall the cases.
Another guy I know was cleaning his rifle one night, while drinking, and discharged a cleaning rod through his wife's neck - killing her.
