Based on a 60 year life span and 6 billion people, about 274,000 people die every day worldwide. That is 8.2 million/month. A 20 million month would not be a global calamity.
1918 flu pandemic killed 3-5% of the world's population. That is 180-300 million deaths today based on 6 billion. I think that would get our attention.

It would depend on who did the dying. If the dead were criminals, welfare clients, illegals, etc. it would be all over the news.
If it were conservatives, Republicans, the military you'd never hear a word.
