Yep, I have two 2x7-33mm's.

Caveat....I just sold wife's Vx-r in firedot 4 and replqced it with the Vx-r plex. She preferred her familiar plex reticle with the firedot.
I also have one in firedot 4.
That said, me thinks these leupy Vx-r series are a "best bargain" in rifle optics. Build quality is excellent. The illumination is well-designed with many variations in brightness, and the reticle has an innovative auto-off and auto-on (motion sensed).
Weight is 13.0-13.1 ounces respectively for mine (leupy claims 12.7 oz.).....pretty light considering the 30mm tube and electronics.....These scopes are lighter than the non-
illum venerable 2.5x8x32mm Zeiss conquest series.
They have the very good finger click adjustments, low light performance is excellent for the 33mm objective and focus ring function is typical leupy smooth.
I've struggled with last-legal-light shooting situations with our late November rutting bucks, frankly putting the crosshairs on has been a challenge for me more than once with my bad eyes. I'm looking forward to the illuminated reticle. The wife saw mine and wanted one, but as I said, she liked the familiar plex crosshair design with the lighted dot, so I obliged her.
So far so good with the range work and plinking.

For $350 to 410 or so used in excellent shape, these are great little scopes.

broomd, do you like the firedot 4 setup? I'm fixin' to put a VX6 w/firedot on a 7mag.

Yep, I do. But isn't a deal breaker either way.
Here in north ID we live in heavily wooded country and I am thinking the idea behind the fd4 is such an application....ie, less clutter in the reticle design against a busy background.

Looking through one can easily see whether the rifle is canter with the robust thick outer crosshairs, yet the inner portion and upper hair retains the thin lines for quick, clean target acquisition.

I find I like the illum dot barely on. A little goes a long way in really low light.

Ditto what broomd stated. My daughter has one on her M70 7x57mm and I have one on my 9.3x62mm (both with firedot #4). Leupold finally got the illuminated rheostat right, as their previous generation left a lot to be desired.

It is a great little scope, I found the smaller the dot the better and I shot deer last year in the dark(Legal) and it was extremely effective.Battery saving feature is very nice as well. I had the 3-9x40 plex reticle

Yep, really just a normal plex with the dot off.

VX-R glass not quite VX-6 but plenty good.

Firedot Duplex A-OK.

VX-R glass is VX 2 glass; plenty good.

I've read that the VX-2 has about the same glass quality as the older VX-III, which is pretty good.
