Ruger #1 30-30 Anyone have one they would part with or know where one is at. I am looking for one to use so it does not have to be NIB.
Thanks

I've wanted one as well, but never stumbled across one that had nice wood, when I had the money to buy it I'd watch Cabelas & Gunbroker.

Browning made some High Walls in their Hunter model, but I have NEVER seen one for sale anywhere.
Why they didn't use the Low Wall, which would have been a wonderful woods gun, is a mystery.
What fresh Hell is this?

This is one that made me slobber. Regrettably, it was long gone by the time I saw it. The photographer was a master of his trade, too. kd http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=113891

Count me in as wanting one too. Been on the lookout for one off and on for a while. I love Number 1's but really love them in the rimmed cartridges.

I mentioned group buy once here, and the consensus was cat herding was much easier...

I'd PM El Numero Uno. Pretty sure he'd have a handle on a couple.

Out of the 1A 30/30's; haven't had one in a long while. Sorry.

I think the #1 is a hair on the large side for a .30-30. Now, a Winchester Low Wall in the caliber, could be very interesting...

I don't know, Patrick. That little 1A is such a slick little rifle and the 30 WCF is a sweet little cartridge. I think they would go together like biscuits and gravy.

The only #1 I'd consider owning would be a 30/30.

The .30-40 isn't bad, either... For some reason, the only .30-30 I've owned is a Contender carbine. It too works nicely. There's a .30-30 Model 99 at one local shop. Need to give it another look...

You could buy an '06 and rechamber it for the 30R Blaser (7.62x68R). In a #1 or an 1885 it will do very well. It was designed to put an '06 size rimmed cartridge back into break actions in Europe. And it was made big enough to clean up an '06 chamber.

Never understood why these 1a 30-30s were so slow to sell initially, supposedly many requests were made for this chambering, although there were several (4?) special run editions issued at the same time, so may have flooded the market. I think Lipseys had some of these in stock for a while, although I have no direct knowledge, just memories. Know where a circasion stocked version of the 1a 30-30 is, not for sale, think that guy will ask to be buried with that rifle under his arm when the time comes.

That's because all the gun writers just know and print that the .30 WCF (AKA .30-30) is just barely adequate for deer when fired from a rifle!
But the same cartridge fired from TC single shot Contender will kill deer and moose at 300 yards!

The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

I think the #1 30 WCF would be a really nice cast bullet rifle.
