My favorite is the 240wby. Mine is a 1/8 twist so I can shoot VLD type bullets.

The new and improved "Bigstick" aka Boxer, is kinda spooky.

Usually people that post under multiple handles and personalities are BATSHIT crazy?

I possess exactly one Weatherby rifle, in non-Weatherby cartridge, so all I have to go by are ballistics charts. Given that, the 7mm comes in with the Blue Ribbon by a length. Runner up: the over-boomer 300. The 7 is close to perfect capacity for a magnum 7. Seems like I could duplicate the 257 and then some in the 7 with the right light bullet. The 300 offers no more range than the 7, so the only plus there is heavier bullets, more KE.

irfubar,

beautiful rifle you got there. Mine is built on a Pre-64 action and is a one hole gun with Sierra 85s but the 1-10 twist just won't handle the heavies. If I ever manage to shoot out the barrel, it will be replaced with a 1-8.

I've owned a number of 257's and am now having a 270 made around the 150 gr Berger VLD for a little more down range punch. Should be fun!

Lot of truth there. Under 400yds, where 95% of big game is taken and BC doesn't mean schit, the 257WBY really has no equal.

100gr Barnes TTSX. Also have some 80gr TTSX loaded up but haven't used them on game yet.

Noticed you were being civil in your posts this afternoon, been hitting the bottle pretty hard since dark?

geedubya,

Batting 50% as a "best" case scenario ain't much of a "Trump Card"...though in fairness, the Texas version of everything is PRICELESS...............(hint)
