Out doing a bit of testing this morning, the 230 OTM's went 2867 fps in my 300 Win with a 28" Krieger 10 twist barrel with 78.0 grs. of Retumbo, easy extraction and normal case head expansion.
Still packing 1725 fps at 1000 yds here at sea level Okleehoma, three went into .221" with no wind, C.O.A.L. ran 3.625"
Been hankering hard for some 210 LRAB's but gave up on em, these should do fine for all NA game hunting and steel banging.

Those should do the trick. Have you tried the 215 hybrids?

No on the 215's, but have heard good things about them, ideally I wanted to build a LR elk hunting load for my 300 Win, the more research I do on the 230 OTM's the more I like them for hunting.
Seems they do a nice job on elk from the various 300 mags, a 230 traveling near 2900 is a pretty serious stick.

I had very good results with the 230's out of my 300 RUM last year. Moose, Elk, Deer and coyotes were fodder for the big bullets.

Great news Bones, was wondering about firsthand killing reports with this bullet, seems if I do my part it 'WILL' handle the rest.

While not conclusive we shot two cow elk with the 230 match target hybrids last year with excellent results. The 230 gr OTM and target versions have many threads with successful performance on a variety of big game hunts. a recent hunting report is from a guy that went to Africa using a 300 RUM and the 230 target hybrids: http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f19/230gr-berger-used-africa-success-138852/

Haven't you guys heard, with the "new" bullets on the market, all that is needed is a .243 for elk, and a .223 for all else..

On Oct. 15 I used a 230 grain Berger OTM Tactical Hybrid to take a 6x5 bull. .300 Win Mag, range 350 yards, muzzle velocity 2775, impact velocity 2400 fps +or-. Bullet hit directly on the near side shoulder bone just above the "knee" and under the wide "blade", made a mess of the lungs near the heart, and I found this in the hide on the far side with no further bone hit. Retained weight 81 grains. The bull went down when hit, no tracking needed, the near shoulder was completely unhinged. You can see that in the pic. The Berger seemed to do it's job to the vitals well even after the initial contact with the heavy part of the shoulder bone.

Just built a .300 hunting gun and have been debating on which bullet to shoot. The 230's shot so well I may have to go with them. I have 2000 208 A-Max though .....
Hmmmmm...

Kissed 10 thou in and bumped powder + half grain and got 2900 even, accuracy remains constant. This should be a boondocker backup elk load.

BTW, just been eyeballing the two and despite what the box says, I dont believe the 210 ABLR to have a higher G1 than the 230 OTM, G7 on the Noz wont be that high either.
Flight will tell the rest of the story.

2900 is cruisin out of a 300 win. I'm only getting 100fps more out of a 30-378, RUMS are running at 2950, 26" tubes.

My thoughts too, 28"s of barrel [no brake] and Retumbo seems to be getting along very well with the big 230 OTM's so far.
Foamed out the barrel after 30 rounds fired with very little fouling residue, another plus.

Gunner I can't find the post now but Brian litz tested the BC of all the accubond long range bullets. It was very interesting and I'll try to find it. He tested a lot of rates of twist also.
The 30cal in a 10 twist were fairly close to published.

Litz's results were a .646 G1 and a .331 G7 in a 1-10 twist for the 210 ABLR.

John- do you have the chart Bryan posted? It was pretty interesting seeing the SG with rate of twist changes?

805,
Yeah, I've got the results. Don't want to post it here due to copyright stuff, but it is interesting. The ABLR that comes out best is the 129 6.5, which in a 1-8 twist is basically dead-nuts as advertised.
There's a bunch of excellent info on how twist affects BC in Bryan's latest book, MODERN ADVANCEMENTS IN LONG-RANGE SHOOTING, VOL. 1. In fact the entire book is full of great research and results. For anybody who has his first book, this one's a great follow-up and just as essential.
