Setting aside my Beanland built and Palma target rifles, of several hunting calibers I have...this rifle is the most consistently dependable caliber that I own. I built this rifle up back 20 years ago; has a Hart barrel 1-10" ROT and is afixed with a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40MM and Timney trigger that is excellent. I keep this rifle in my truck...NOT in a rack....and NOT with the muzzle down in the floor-board collecting dust, grit, etc. Best way to ruin a great shooting rifle IMO! Prior to each hunting season I have many friends come to my range to 'check' their zeros which is a good thing and often times I find that these guys are forevermore griping about "my rifle has changed zero"! Amazing! The below rifle NEVER changes it's initial zero; only a slight allowance possibly I may make in 'hold' for varying temperature! It is not an exotic caliber....rather just plain ole .308 Winchester shooting for hunting a 150 gr. AccuBond bullet and for here around the farm I use the Sierra 168 gr. since I've got two bushel baskets of these left over from my days of comp shooting the NMC of fire. If the coyotes that this rifle has put down could verbalize...they'd put up an awful howl about how they had been discriminated against; quite a few nice whitetails would agree with them also!

I know you like to shoot long range. Have you had the parallax for that VX-II reset beyond the nominal 150 yards?

I've failed too many WAM's and couldn't roll dice like that, but do enjoy a good SLEEPER.

VSSF 308 chopped to 21",McMillan HTG with strong side palmswell and comb/cheekpiece built up,then painted with bedliner. 10X MQ Fixed [bleep] and 25MOA rail, for extry reach.

It'll bughole 168SMK's,but I mainly Burp Ball with it,to blow minds...as it will do routinely, that which "can't" be did. Have whistled better than 1000rds through it in a day, numerous time and it's still in 99.9% condition.(grin)

I shoot a bunch of those with the Hornady 168 BTHP, which seems to fly flatter than it should.

This being an older VX-II it does not have the side focus or at the objective lens but I detect no parallax back to 700 yards. It doesn't have the 'bells & whistles' my NF scopes have....but it works! grin smile

I understand it doesn't have parallax adjustments as a feature, but it can be altered to adjust the parallax free distance.

Only if you're perfectly centered every time.

The cheekweld can be consistent as all get out, which makes angular parallax error consistent, but it can still be there.

That which can't be did indeed. That is an anomoly, there. Can't argue with groups like that though, even if it's an ugly SOB. You must have had a witch doctor kill a few chickens to get it to shoot ball that well.
