Let's wake up the thread, Hamburg.

No time for big game this summer, due to a new pup to coach, but bagged a few foxes ... Took pictures of the cleanest kills ... and spend some days fly fishing in German Eiffel. Nice area, nice people and excellent place for wild "fario" trouts.

THAT was a good evening hunt, in an old barn with my daughter and my son, and a good shot on a red fox with the ruger no1.



In addition it gave me the opportunity to give the kids a good lesson about firearms safety showing them the 4 inches wide tunnel the 300 winnie digged into the fox, so they actually saw those stuff aren't just toys. They were pretty impressed yet not digusted so it was just fine.

I was talking about the awkward fact that my girlfriend has got her own hunting ground whereas I don't.

Her kids and us stayed there in her trailer for almost two weeks. Great times - didn't have much time to hunt though.

Great looking shots Grand V- except the Bitburger! I never could stand the taste of that stuff.

Started to say that the Romans would not touch that horse piss, but a google search of the region made the reference clear. I really like that part of Germany, especially near Trier. Beautiful trout pictures.

On thursday my girlfriend and I headed for her hunting grounds where 3 maize fields were announced to be chaffed.
In areas where wild boars occur this is an excellent opportunity to get them, but it is difficulut to acquire a bunch of capable shooters on a thursday.
For the first and smallest field we were four shooters, but only roe deer and a pleasing number of pheasants came out.
Second field was bigger and of complex shape, six shooters around, but again only roe deer and pheasants appeared.





Third field was the biggest and most promising one. Right in the beginning a boar was discovered, but kept hiding in the shrinking maize.
Hours passing by, more shooters arrived, and by the time the last rows of maize were to be chaffed a ring of nine shooters surrounded the boar that was still hiding.
With three lines to go the boar left the maize right in front of my neighbouring shooter only to hide in the bushes around a waterhole, staying there for a couple of minutes and then going back into the maize again.
Although the boar had only been visible for seconds it was clear that it was a big one.
Two lines left the boy finally left the maize again, this time heading for the neighbouring fields - and much closer to me.
I let him pass between the next shooter and myself, and then a shot of my Sauer 101 took him at about 60 meters (65 yards) at full speed. The 180 grs .30-06 federal fusion caused the boar to drop immediately.
Turned out to be by far the heaviest boar ever for me with a weight of 142.1 kg (313.28 lb) confirmed by two different scales. Big smile here :-)

Many hunting buddies use to say that once you're unlucky with love you're going to be lucky in your hunts ...

Don't know but ... opening day drive on saturday ended like that with the 7x64 ... and beating the high blackberry bush on sunday ended like this, simply with the .12g. .
