I have been using some older versions for load work and they shoot very well.
Does anyone know if Nosler has thickened the jacket over the last 10-15 years?
These are in the older boxes and don't know how old..

I'm Shooting them at 3100 in a 270WBY and guess I'm confirming I better not hit bone at less than 200yds on mule deer...I am typically a double lung guy but stuff happens....

Dave, The nosler BT's in general have all been beefed up in the last 10-15 years, some more than others. I would think the yellow tipped 150 at 3100fps would be a dynamite killer of mule deer and elk, especially for the lung shooter.

I too have some of the old .277 150 NBTs(old 100ct boxes) and at 2800ish they are pretty soft. They will sure churn up the goodies of WTs.

The 150 LRAB is where I'd be lookin'. 3250 with that BC ain't nothing to sneeze at.

I was thinking of trying those but I have struggled with other rifles getting AB's to shoot. Although this one shoots everything good to great...,

First generation 130 grainers started near 3200 were tough on deer chest cavities. My Dad used to shoot them on top of a full dose of H4831 out of a 26" barrel.

The first iteration of 150gr BT's out of my 270's were like shooting deer and elk with Plastic Tipped Potato Chips......it was ugly, really ugly. But they were really accurate......

As JB will point out (and ream my azz) the BT's have been improved.........

One of my buds ran the 130s a bit from a Roy! It was pretty gruesome.

I could always go with a 110TTSX at 3500, they shoot as well as the 150BT. The 150 Partition shoots an inch which is double the other two....

I believe that Nosler recommends a top velocity of 3100 fps for ballistic tips, which fits with my experiences in 25 and 27 caliber.

I would run those 150's Kill deer very well. Prolly work just fine on elk too.

Have fun.

I remember Brad shooting an elk with that bullet. I think he was using a 270 Win.

These have a lot number starting with a F. I don't know they are 1996 or 2006 production. Prolly 1996 since they are in 100 ct boxes.
