Anybody tried one of these out yet? I remember a thread about it a few months ago, wondering how they perform, particularly the 7-08.

They are discount retail at over 2 grand down here. For that sort of brass I would expect very high standards of assembly and finish.

For the reason of pricing there are very few on the ground in these parts.

Sorry that doesn't help you I know.

$1299 shipped here. Not a bad deal I don't think.

One must make them self happy.

They look like a nice rifle.

7-08 are nice, great choice.

Yes they do appear in specs to be good'uns. That's why I know what the asking price is here. frown

I can get into a Kimber for a few hundred less so might go that way.

2K? Good Gawd!...............I have been tempted to try one but My guess is that they have that thick wristed B&C stock like the B&C on the Mod 70 EW that I detest, until I can actually handle one (which will probably be never in My neck of the woods) I will have to pass.....................Hb

I understand some don't like the stock ergos. I have B&C on a Tikka and like it fine, so I know what I'm getting into there.

One of my hunting partners has has the Patriot in 30-06. He loves it. I've shot is several times and its is a very nice, well built rifle. He only shoots factory and I've seen groups hovering around one inch at 100 yds when I've shot it.

I wouldn't pay $2000 for one, but for around $1300 I think they are a lot of rifle for the money.

They won't out shoot a Tikka regardless, so what is the point?

Tikkas are nice, but there are a lot of compromises in their design. Depending on your use, those compromises might not matter. To some others they do.

JG, the Patriot looks like a very nice rifle. I'm sure they are a shooting sombeesh and the Tikka statement by dogcatcher is downright ridiculous (not unusual for him). I have a CZ 550 American that can shoot circles around most Tikka's day in and day out. My model 70's keep right up with them as well. I'd say if you want it, go for it. It might just surprise you and then you can let us know just how good they are..

Some say they are a much refined redesign of the Howa 1500. Some might disagree but I see that as a positive.

Maybe, maybe not but at least it wont REEK of cheapness....LOL.........I'd say if you can live with the stock it should be an excellent well made rifle................Hb

JG,

if you get one, knock the new off it, and find you don't like it, get in touch with me. I'm a sucker for pre-enjoyed rifles. I only have four 7-08s in house at the moment, and I have had great luck with the Nosler Custom Sporters.

Best,

GWB

Very few guns can hang with sako barrels. Keep lying to yourselves.
