Model 1892 (sn 51606) in 38WCF. Belonged to my great uncle who retired as captain of the guards at the Baltimore City jail. Rifle was shot only for familiarization yearly. Only 1/3 of a box of ammo has been shot through it since. BUT before it was passed on to me the family thought they'd do me a favor and have it reblued and sling studs installed (gee thanks!). Other than that it's all original.

Re-blued and with studs it is probably worth around $500-$800 depending on local market factors................
It will make a nice shooter, you don't have to worry about the finish.

THANKS for the reply and price estimation. I was figuring close to $800 but haven't checked around the area lately. I was given a top price of $750 about 5yrs ago but wasn't interested in selling it then.

Guns like that really don't have a value as I doubt you would sell it.. It is most valuable to you. Enjoy it and shoot it and when you are done hand it off to the next generation.. Nice rifle.....

It's not going to make you a rich man monetarily, but in family history, jackpot! Keep it and the story together for the next generation..... or ten.

Yea,reckon I ought to keep it. My G/U also had the pistol of the same chambering that was issued to him. I remember seeing it as a kid but don't know what make it was or what ever happened to it. As a side note, while he was in the process of retiring the jail was changing over to more modern armament. He could have had as many of the 92's and pistols as he wanted but just took the ones issued to him.
