I was just noticing that there hasn't been much activity on this thread lately so thought I would see if I couldn't bring it up to date! As I posted quite awhile back what I did in the USAF when I was in, I didn't say much about serving a tour as a crew-member on the 374 TAW Blindbat Mission at Ubon Thailand. We flew night missions over the Ho Chi Mihn Trail looking for trucks carrying goods to the NVA in South Viet Nam. We used a starlight scope mounted in the right paratroop door and flared the trucks while calling air strikes from where ever we could get the aircraft. Usually from Thailand (USAF), or the Gulf of Tonkin (Navy and Marines). We got shot at almost nightly by AAA fire and once a SAM!! Very exciting to say the least! Are there any Campfire members familiar with this mission? I am always looking for Blind Bat guys!
Long winded yes, but I am always hoping to run into some of the guys I might have not seen or heard from for over 40 years.
Thanks, Ken

Talking with some old friends tonight - so feeling alittle reminiscent. Just want to say... young or old, out or still in, deceased or alive, humble or a bragger (partial to the humble), you all have my respect and gratitude. God Bless.

Air Traffic Controller was in a Chopper unit for a couple of years.... we had an ATC section... we use to say it stood for Always Taking Coffee... that's what they spent most of their time doing.... ( not insinuating that applied to anyone but our unit...) Thanks for your service tho my friend...

u.s. army 80-84 o5d10
ft. dix - basic ft.devens - ait usafsa - perm. duty. ets'd then went to work for state, then dia.
walked away 1991, became a truck driver.
this is my story and i'm sticking to it, even tho i did more and took other training, that isn't on my dd214. 05D in Augsburg, you're one of the ones that were connected to the elephant cage. USAFSA '85-'88. 33S20N6 US Army 82-86 05B-20A4 Basic at Ft jackson, SC AIT Ft Gordon, GA Pershing Special Ops Forces, West Germany ended career with A Co. 21st MI at Ft Carson, CO. The strange thing I noticed is that in the early 80's, there was a lot of that funny chit going on that was never reported on DD214's, or anywhere on your jackets......seems it was more widespread than I thought. But then again, during our tenure everything was always covert ops anyway during, Cold War and all.

BTW, I just got Veteran on my Texas Drivers License. I get a 10% discount there and Home Depot.
Anybody know of a web site that lists other businesses that offer the discounts?

Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

In a free country the government doesn't fear its citizens and there firearms. In a crocked government everything is up to be removed even the citizens if they truly believe in freedom.
