Just curious: Who is happy with the Leupold wide duplex on fixed matte scopes and who would prefer a standard?

I much prefer the standard, and don't see any reason for a duplex reticle with such short posts as the Wide. Might as well have plain crosshairs....

I like the Wide at times for varmints, as it is out of the way.

For hunting, give me the Standard.

Standard for me, too.

They screw it up on the Redfield Revos IMO, too.

I ordered a wide duplex on a 6x36 for my light weight rifle, but after getting the scope I realized I slightly prefer the standard. If I were to be in a situation where I thought a shot in low light conditions were a strong possibility, I would probably grab another scope.

I have scopes in wide, standard, and heavy duplex. I much prefer the heavy out of the 3 and don't understand why Leupold does not offer it in more models. The fact that Leupold offers the heavy in the 6x42 but not the 6x36 is reason enough for me to choose a couple of ounces of weight for a majority of my needs.

In the FX-3 6X42 with a LRD Ret is this just a dotted Wide Duplex?

Far as I can tell, yup, the LR is WD with dotz, and more thin reticle toward the bottom post to accommodate them. Looked through both in 6X36 and decided I didn't care that much for the dotz in person, bought the WD, since gloss isn't an option.

Don't mind the looks, but have no real opinion yet. The deer and hogs will decide. Way I looked at it, I could pay $50 more for dotz that didn't give me the warm fuzzies, or if I decide I don't like the WD after I hunt it this fall, I can spend $70 to send it Leupold for a #4.

For LR F-Class and such the wide duplex is very good IMO. It brackets targets well, but still allows you to see the centers better. Not what it was supposedly designed for, but works great nonetheless.

For general hunting, I use mostly standard duplex and 2-3 heavy duplexes.....

Risque Reticles out of Maudlow, Montana is making a reticle that incorporates a nude picture of Raquel Welch when she was 25 years old. It's becoming very popular with older shooters.

Odd you mention it. I just spent the last two days in Maudlow. Seriously. whistle

Ingwe is being overly modest here- Word is here in the Capitol City, he was selected by Risque Reticles to be the male model for their new reticle designed for women shooters.

Its called the Rotund Dot.

Central reference point is the belly button.
For windage hold the more prominent outlines well off to the side.

There is an R - rated version planned featuring holdover, but this would call for the removal of the trademark leopard thong the regular is wearing.

Try and erase that mental image.

I have heard that a certain Montana gun writer has been commissioned to find and lead a team of 6 women hunters on a dik-dik hunt to field test the new reticle. Ingwe has threatened to sue, saying he should be in charge of leading the field test. It's turned into a real pizzin contest, I hear.
I won't even repeat what some of the comments have been about the lighted reticle pro to types.
