OK, it's officially ON !

Had to dodge 3 separate velvet bucks in the last 24 hours !

Archery deer open Sept 1st, however, will not actually hunt till October, sometime, due to not wanting to hang in the heat !

Sure got me motivated to get things moving in the woods. Probably some brushing this weekend, then set out trail cams etc & plan where to put the pop ups, ladders are still up.

Oh yeah, was going to build the missus an enclosed ground blind.

OK, this weekend is going to officially be busy. New (used) boat to try out & walleye to slay, to boot !

About a month ago I applied for a special draw permit for bowhunting only in a large county park across the road from my house.

I got an email today that I got drawn. I'm pretty pumped. I've NEVER been drawn for a tag, even after applying for dozens of different one.

I guess it's time to bust out the Switchback and start shooting The Block

I'm jealous! deer tags are slim here, been out shooting the bow a little, I think I need to bring it in and get tuned up.
as much as I LOVE rifle hunting, archery is it's own category. at least for me. I get just giddy sitting in a tree with a stick and string.

least til it gets boring, I know I have texted a few guys from this thread, and even posted from my stand whist waiting for ol' forky toes to show up.

I'd rather gun hunt...but maybe that's maybe because I've never shot a buck with a bow. I've missed a 1/2 dozen of so though. smile Some were no excuses.

This hunt isn't a gimme, but there is always a chance. There is however...some bruiser bucks in there. I'm going to find the boundarys soon and start scouting. It's litterally across the road from my house.

Shoot as many as you can. I've got a new chest freezer and a grinder.....and now can only shoot one in my zone.

I pay in beer.

I have been lucky enough to draw a couple special hunts. Be ready to shoot at first legal time, deer get pushed hard right away and disappear quickly.

Exactly what kind of beer are we talkin' about here Goalie? I just might have dust off the stick and string and lay waste to a few baldies here........

I was just kidding, actually. I don't drink any more. When I did my tastes were pretty simple-Grain Belt Premium, and when back out east, it was Iron City Light, a beer out of Pittsburgh.

I made a batch o beer once it was good ...

Until you finished that first bottle after that you had better drink the rest sitting on the porcelain throne.

I made a red-ale that everyone in the neighborhood seems to like.

The biggest indicator that it doesn't suck is that a lot of the wives have asked for some at a second neighborhood get-together a week after breaking it out.

The last time I brewed was in the 90's. It is a LOT different today. Easier to sanitize. Kegging helps with keeping the yeast out of the bottom of the bottle too, which is what usually causes the GI upset.
