I know there is better performance with the newer, slower powders but is there any published data that shows 3150-3200 for 140 gr bullets giving pressure numbers. Most everything in the manuals I see show max velocities about 3000 fps? What say you?

A while back our very own Mule Deer wrote an article about the 264 using modern powders. He found more than one that pushed 140gr Speers past 3200. hopefully, he will see this thread and help you out.

Personally, I have been very happy with 125 partitions and 130gr AB's at 3300, so haven't experimented with 140's

And Magnum or Magpro.

I also have settled for the 130 AB at 3300. I am using 71 gr of Magnum with a CCI 250 with this bullet.

I know that you can get to 3200 with some of the newer powders. I am just wondering about what pressures you are generating by doing so. I know you can inspect the brass watching for pressure signs. I am just wondering if there is actual published pressure data associated with these kind of velocities. ???

Thanks Fotis. I guess I will shoot for 3100-3150 in my 26" barrel, in my load development, just to be on the safe side.

Fotis, in all your experimenting with the 264 win mag. What is your favorite powders for 125 gr, 130 gr, 140 grain bullets. Thanks for any input. John

Use QL as a reference like any other manual.
