Got a 53 year old Benjamin 312 that still works, do that count?
I am..........disturbed.

I'm on the iPhone and can't cipher how to post pics, or I'd put one up of the '60s vintage Savag'e 24 (.30-30/20) with the cheap red dot sight in the custom mount.
Pretend to use your imagination, it never don't work.
Best Regards,
BD
PS: it shoots tighter patterns with the .30-30 than the 20 but it takes longer.

When I was starting out hunting---lots of guys used old military surplus guns. I saw alot of 30/40 Krags, 06 springfields, 6.5 or 7.7 Japs, 8mm mausers. Working class hunters could get them on the cheap & go kill deer. Many would put a Weaver 4x on it & have to alter the bolt. Most would not even put a new stock on it.

You guys ruined all the 'fun'. What fun is it to converse as normal people do without resorting to sifting pearls from the sewage pit?

I got my friend's daughter out shooting an H&R youth stocked Handi in .223. It's wearing a 3x9 Bushnell Elite 4200, and hit where she pointed it. She is super excited about deer season now.

The first high power rifle I bought as a kid was an old Eddystone 17,and it was a good shooting gun,.It was scoped with a old 3x9x40 Simmons scope on see thru mounts, and had real nice Marbles sights. It still had the military stock ,but it had been reworked to have a more sporting look..I gave $150 for it,and about 2,and a1/2 boxes of shells in around about 1990,or 91...A friend of mine bought one of those 7.7 Japs for $75 bucks I'm thinking, but at the time the only shells he could get were Norma,at a then astronomical price ,I'm thinking of around $25,or $30 dollars.

Got a 53 year old Benjamin 312 that still works, do that count? Sure. My 5mm Benjamin is long gone but I have a Daisy 880 that has accounted for a lot of rabbits and one prairie dog that mistook our septic field for a new home.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.
