Occasionally I see complaints about a few of the more abusive members of the site. I was wondering if it would be possible to completely block a member from posting on a thread if that member is on the "ignore" list of the member starting the thread.
I would assume that if one member has another on ignore, they aren't interested in that member's opinion anyway. It would also encourage members to be more civil on all threads because it would severely limit their ability to post if they are on the ignore lists of many different members.
Those who must raise their voice to get their point across are generally not intelligent enough to do so in any other way.

You are wanting to censure things like a Democrat. If you have them on ignore, then you won't see anything they post unless somebody quotes them. Others might be interested in what they have to say. miles

I see your point. However, I see it more as self-moderation. This site has no moderators like many other sites. This is good and bad. It allows livelier debate but it also allows some members to abuse the privilege. If the offending members are not allowed to post on various threads because they have been placed on ignore by multiple members, it might encourage them to tone down their replies and be more civil.

So the man that owns the site declines to censor people, so you feel it is your place to do so? Is this correct? miles

I figure many people will feel like you, while many others would appreciate being able to block certain members from their threads.
Perhaps it could be an option on the preferences page. Give members a choice of whether to block those members on their ignore list from the threads they start.

You have the ignore feature. Just use it.

There are at least a dozen other similar websites where anyone with a dissenting opinion from group speak is promptly censored and banned - I'm sure one of them is your huckleberry. Odd, they never seem to have the same depth of information that's found on the 'fire - I wonder if there is any correlation?

If you don't like the program, change the channel. Works with the radio, tv, work, women, even internet bullies.
