Ruger pisses me off!

http://www.ruger.com/products/no1LightSporter/models.html

Just when I thought I'd never again pack one of these heave bastids around again. PPHHuck!

Spent 20 years with various -06's in a #1 B..

Is this the first year they are offering the .280 in the light sporter?

I believe so, the .280's I recall seeing were 1B's. For about 3 years now they have been running one caliber per year in the 5 different models plus some distributor exclusives. No 1B's in a while now.

This is the 2nd year; last year the 1A in .222 Rem. and the 1V in 6.5-284 Norma were the new offerings. The 1S in 45/70, the 1RSI in 7x57 and the 1H in 375 H&H were continued in the lineup. This year, the 1RSI in 257 Roberts, 1S in 9.3x62 and the 1A in 280 are new; the 1V in the Swift, 1H in 450/400 are repeats. There was recently another run of the 45/70 1-S-C(26" C weight barrel with Circassian stocks) and appears Cabela's got most of them. I think also some 303 British 1A's and 1S 9.3x74R's have shown up with this years serial#s. Anything else, I must have missed it.
No 1B's this year, but several calibers turned up last year-even though the 1B was supposedly discontinued for several years now.

Cabelas does have some nice ones in their Gun Library. There's one of the .475 Turnbulls, plus a .300 H&H Boddington with very good wood.

Friend of mine bought a 1B in .243 from Cabella's in Denver last year. I checked the serial number, it was 2013 new production. Apparently one of those uncatalogued runs they don't put on the website.

That was my experience at the Cabela's north of Denver last October. They had current production 1B's in 243 and 257 Roberts; there were at least 7. I bought one of each.

The .475, which may actually have Circassian wood on it, though very plain

a .475 Turnbull

grin

need a lightweight .358 Norma?

Blonde enough to be Circassian; forearm is about as good of figure as will be found on a forearm, which is about the equivalent of "for a fat girl, she doesn't sweat much!"

Back in the early 90s I saw a Ruger #1V in 280 REM in the FT Hood, TX area, only one I ever handled.

Finally got my hands on a #1 lightsporter at a Gun Shop in Spokane. Liked it alot! Its listed as a 22" barrel but there's no way this one had a 22" barrel. Unless Ruger measures the barrel differnt than I do on a #1.

Nearly $1300 I believe. But man did I like it.
