After further consideration I decided to upgrade my deflector shield design. I really wanted to do this without having to buy anything but coyotewacker's post in my first thread got me thinking that two tubs may not be enough. The problem is the plastic is so flexible that they could bend and damage the display.

So ... I went to local plastic fab shop and the owner sold me a piece of scrap 1/8" Lexan for a $1.00. grin

There's no way a sabot is going through that. The only fabrication needed is cutting it with jigsaw.

Two tubs = shock absorber
1/8" Lexan = sabot proof !

I have to admit that the tubs might be superfluous. They add a bit of shock absorbtion but I really don't know if that's a necessity. You could use clear shipping tape to attach the Lexan over the front of the display and call it good. I like the slip on/slip off design though.

Here's an update ...

12 shots - no hits. smile

I set the chrono at 10' from the muzzle (per CE) and got a reading on every shot and no wayward sabots. I was shooting high through the dowels and this seems to be the ticket. I'm confident with this set up and no longer have any worries about damaging the chrono with a sabot.

The target is set at 100 yards and that's the view through my TC 1X32 scope.

WONDERFUL. Thanks for the update AND the heads up. I have EXACTLY the same chronograph and I shoot a Savage 10 ML-II and have always wanted to shoot over the graph. But I have no balls!!!!!!!!!!! I think you solved that problem..... grin grin

Looks great. When I shoot through my crony I focus on proper sighting through the uprights, less worry on any target beyond. I realize one can line everything up, but it's usually one thing at a time.
