Just got back from a great trip. We were lucky enough to find this 8x7 in a general, OTC unit with 4% success rate (last year). We worked very hard to get this bull. The troop consisted of three of us...my best buddy going back to Jr High (Mark). My Swedish friend Magnus (who is stationed in the Swedish military at the same military base as Mark), and myself. Magnus was the shooter. It was his first time hunting in America. He loved the entire experience, and seemed to grasp the magnitude of the success. Hunting in Europe is a very different endeavor from what I gathered, and in addition to far higher success rates, the accommodations are generally pretty lush. Magnus seemed to enjoy eating hotdogs and semi-warm beans from a can as much as the kill itself, which tickled me to death. More to come after some rest. Great guys to hunt with. I am hoping to bring one of my Swedish Air Force hunting buddies to WA in the next couple years for his first elk.
