Even though that goes beyond "fender bender" - I'd bet Northern Dave could fix it in a month or two!

It doesn't surprise me the container ship hit the other ship. The container ship was buried in containers from stem to stern. Heck when the container ship first passed the boat taking pictures I could not find the bridge at first.

Whew did you listen to the audio?? Uggg.

Wonder if the two captains had previously had words or just both very stuck on themselves, looked like they were racing to start with!

I remember the day Iraq invaded Kuwait being Anchored in Bahrain (Task Force 118) and almost getting run over by a BP supertanker, empty, running very high in the water and barely, I mean barely, getting it turned before taking out the Frigate we were on out.

Good times...

I was stationed at MARBKS Rota Spain when they towed in the Belknap after it collided with the JFK. Aluminum superstructure simply melted from the heat.

I was on a troop ship back in 1960, halfway between U,S, and Japan.

Our ship, can't recall the name, was refueling the USS Monticello which was accompanying is.

Calm seas, with the whole Pacific ocean to maneuver in, and we collided. Knocked a big hole above waterline in our ship. Took out a couple 50 cal mounts on the Monticello.

Looks like the captain on the right decided it was better to ram the ship on the left than to be run aground.

Seems like the container ship screwed up by trying to pass the other ship in restricted waters. If the captain had just followed the other ship this accident wouldn't have happened.

Plus the pilot in the super sized black container ship can't see anything.

Basic Seamanship. Given the same general size the vessel being overtaken is the privileged vessel.
