And you forgot about the various pressures limitations for various rifles, throat lengths, and the twist rate masturbations.

Here is a chart for all the questions new 7x57 owners ask.

I thought that was a chart from the Long Range Hunting Forum.

If you have to ask, you are not ready to understand. Keep it up and enlightenment will be yours.

In short, it is just so, that the 7x57 is just so much more "just so".

Trusting to having cleared up this endless enigma, I leave you to your own devices.

Ready: My comment was TIC.Yours was, too.....I assume. wink

Having had both, I think they are more alike than dissimilar, one tilting a bit toward a tad more bullet weight, the other toward a tad more velocity, and I would hunt either one....and have.Nothing I ever shot with either one would know or understand that it was killed with something a bit more, or less, "just so". smile

I trust, that you don't really believe that "just so" nonsense.....right? confused

EXACTAMUNDO! grin

You forgot the part about adding a bigger, heavier, more better bullet...and some non-gay panache.

I think it all comes down to whether one prefers to hunt with a feminine cartridge or a man's cartridge.

Do you 7x57 owners have to rotate your 7x57 out one week every month?

cool

Speer used to make a .277" 170 gr round nose way back in the day. IIRC My granddad used them on deer.

As far as the leopard print thongs, well they look better on the ladies butts. smile

It's better than living in denial of the .270 WCF's clear superiority over the 7x57...

I have heard that the 270 is gay!

When I looked at the pic of the Jack O'Conner tribute I got me a funny tingling feeling.

That doesn't mean I'm gay does it?

I'm really confused right now!

Don't worry there is no single "gay" rifle cartridge...there are combinations that are suspect...I hear that people that own both 7x57's and .223ai's tend to drink tea with raised pinky's and wear leopard print thongs, you be the judge...

Hello Bob,

thank you for taking the time to even answer my nonsense above.

You are quite correct - my comments were TIC.

Its an old saw, that one. Someone tries to rile up the Poobah by mentioning the .270 Winchester - he/she will then be attested to have "caught the gay". While any real man would only consider the 7x57. Instant recognition of your panache, savoir faire, manhood in general...

The core of the joke is - just like you point out, the "closeness" of the two.

6,5x55 SE vs. 260 Rem, anyone?

Also - and put in for just that reason, I realize, that leaving you to your own devices, sees you well situated and content, resting on a mountain of experience - a man not only grazed with such, but also willing and able to learn from it.

Best wishes.

And this post was not TIC.

Where do .270 Shooters live? In Gaynsville...

elkhnternm,
If you buy the 270, pretty soon you will tripping all your other similar rifles due to the obvious superiority and simplicity and functionality of the 270. grin

You will be happy as your life is simplified, your wife will be happy as you were able to pare down your collection.

Yup, I'm thinking 60 grains and a CCI 250...might as well get to it...

Naw, just have keep reality in check.

7x57 owners just have to keep talking themselves up. When you can't run with the big dogs, you just make more noise. Come up with romantic notions and fancy feelings to justify their cartridge choice.

laugh
