Naw, just have keep reality in check.

7x57 owners just have to keep talking themselves up. When you can't run with the big dogs, you just make more noise. Come up with romantic notions and fancy feelings to justify their cartridge choice.

Still you protest. Sad day, best wishes. Do you have a large wrist watch too?

That's a good start.

Need a lightweight one, pre-64, supergrade, FWT, classic, FN, tribute rifles, and various itinerations of each in wood/blue/stainless/wood, cerakote/wood, cerakote synthetic, etc. One as a donor for kids, one as a donor for adults.

No large wristwatch, tend to use the sun when I am out in the woods though.

What do they say? you can lead a horse 7x57 user to water to the truth, but you can not make them drink see the obvious. wink

So many .270's so little money. wink

I would expect nothing less from a 270 poster.

A 7x57 poster would have us all washing our eyes with bleach. As the thongs they seem to post are on gentlemen, and less than desirables. And they call us gay? confused

They are a complicated bunch. grin

The defendend .270 user admits in a round about way that, yes, there are, to him "desireable" gentlemen.

The prosecution rests.

That was being polite to some of the "women" they post in thongs. You know, the kind you need 5 lbs of bacon to bait and a 5 lb bag of flour. If your into that sort of thing.

Might as well rest, you're probably tired from lugging around those oversized, underpowered 7x57 rounds through the woods...

You are quite correct - my comments were TIC.

Its an old saw, that one. Someone tries to rile up the Poobah by mentioning the .270 Winchester - he/she will then be attested to have "caught the gay". While any real man would only consider the 7x57. Instant recognition of your panache, savoir faire, manhood in general...

The core of the joke is - just like you point out, the "closeness" of the two.

6,5x55 SE vs. 260 Rem, anyone?

Also - and put in for just that reason, I realize, that leaving you to your own devices, sees you well situated and content, resting on a mountain of experience - a man not only grazed with such, but also willing and able to learn from it.

Best wishes.

And this post was not TIC.

Where do .270 Shooters live? In Gaynsville...

Ready it is hard from a distance, sometimes , to tell the barbs from the TIC posts....I am still not good at it. Tom(Ingwe) and I do some back and forth banter on the 270 and the 7x57 for chuckles and to get a rise ot of each other.

In truth, I am very fond of the 270....and the 280...and the 7x57...and the 30/06...and the 7/08.....anything really in that power range.I'll gladly hunt with any of them. smile

This is definitely all in good fun.

After having owned, 25's, 6.5's, 7mm's, and 30's. All good cartridges in their own right. I will disagree with BobinNH in the fact that I will not gladly hunt with any of them as I still prefer a 270.

There is simply a comfort level that has developed over the last 30+ years.

With that being said, the only other cartridge I would consider. IF I had to go back and do it all over again would be the 280 Remington. Funny enough, I have never owned one. Reason: I already have a 270.

I simply love the fact that I can load 85gr TSX's to 180gr Woodleigh's. Crank it up to max potential or use moderate to reduced loads with good effect.

You can say the same thing about a multitude of other cartridges, but the simple fact remains that I have been there, done that with a whole pile of 270 rifles.

grin

I think I like the .270 better with a 26" barrel, so I don't especially want a 22", M70 or otherwise.

But for the .270 in general, it's hard to knock five shots at deer & five bang flops. I'm going to hunt a .25-06 this year, one of Dad's old rifles, but will have my #1 .270 along for backup.
